Welcome to the Elementary Grades
In Kindergarten through 5th grade, students build on the educational foundation laid at home and in preschool. Students at Holy Trinity grow not just academically and physically during this time, but also socially, emotionally, and spiritually, as well. Our caring teachers nurture each area of a child’s development and instill a love of learning.
Academics
In elementary school, we provide students a solid foundation in the core subjects of math, language arts, reading, writing, social studies, and science through a combination of personalized instruction, guided exploration, and hands-on learning. In addition, our strong enrichment classes in music, performance, art and physical education provide a variety of experiences and a well-rounded education.
We measure each student’s academic progress using the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) standardized testing system. With MAP data, we can see the progress of each class relative to the national average, and we can create a personalized growth plan for each student.

The national median growth percentile is 50. Every subject at HTLS exceeded the national benchmark, demonstrating that our students made greater academic progress than the typical student across the United States.
Other Student Activities
At our PreK to 8th Grade school, our elementary age students have the wonderful opportunity to be mentored by our middle school students. Younger students are paired with Chapel Buddies and Reading Buddies. Each of these older student mentors serves as a model of Christian love and skills use for our younger students.
Academic competitions such as spelling bees allow students to test their knowledge. An art fair showcases students’ creativity. And field trips extend student learning beyond the classroom, giving students opportunities to learn about their world, challenge themselves, and serve their community.
